A Sartorial Dynasty: The Story of Stile Latino
In the sun-drenched and historical city of Naples, where elegance is as natural as the sea breeze, the name Attolini is synonymous with Neapolitan tailoring excellence. This story begins nearly a century ago with Vincenzo Attolini (the grandfather), a man who redefined the suit—and in doing so, changed the course of menswear history.
The Legacy of Vincenzo Attolini (Sr.)
In the 1930s, working at Gennaro Rubinacci’s atelier, Vincenzo Attolini became a revolutionary figure. He cast aside the heavy, rigid English tailoring standards of the day and introduced a softer, more relaxed jacket: the Neapolitan jacket. It was a garment that moved with the body, featuring natural shoulders, a high armhole, minimal lining, and an overall lightness that mirrored the Neapolitan lifestyle.
This wasn’t just a technical innovation—it was a cultural one. Attolini had created a new language of elegance, more expressive and less restrained, one that would influence tailors for generations.
The Rise of Cesare Attolini
The maestro’s son, Cesare Attolini, continued his father’s work and eventually founded his own tailoring house, Sartoria Cesare Attolini, which quickly earned a reputation as one of the finest suit-makers in the world. The brand became a standard-bearer of traditional Neapolitan tailoring, combining heritage craftsmanship with global luxury.
Cesare’s house was traditional, precise, and unwavering in its standards. His sons, including Vincenzo Attolini Jr., worked within the family business, absorbing every nuance of their craft.
The Birth of Stile Latino
But not all traditions are meant to remain untouched.
In 2005, after years working at Cesare Attolini (including as head designer), Vincenzo Attolini Jr. decided to forge his own path. With a deep respect for his lineage—but a burning desire to reinterpret it—he founded Stile Latino.
“I didn’t want to repeat what had already been done. I wanted to create something freer, younger, more personal,” he once said in an interview.
With Stile Latino, Vincenzo Jr. introduced a more contemporary vision of Neapolitan elegance. The tailoring remained impeccable—but the fit was more modern, the styling more relaxed, and the entire approach infused with a sense of effortlessness.
What Sets Stile Latino Apart
Unlike the hyper-traditional Cesare Attolini, Stile Latino plays with colors, patterns, and textures in a more expressive way. The jackets are soft-shouldered and light, often unlined, made from luxurious but less conventional fabrics—think washed wool, garment-dyed cashmere, or boldly checked linens.
This is sartorial freedom, made for a man who appreciates tradition but lives in the present.
Vincenzo Jr. runs the brand as a true family affair. His sons Cesare Mattia Attolini (named after his grandfather) and Emiliano work with him, as do other family members, keeping the spirit of the Attolini name alive while evolving its meaning for a new generation.
